How Vigor Router's Wireless WAN feature can benefit your business?

Friday, August 31, 2018

The wireless channel is the limited resource, the crowed channel is, the worse performance users can get. Some of the ISPs will provide the Wi-Fi connection account for their customers with the 3G/4G/LTE contract, so the customers can connect to the Wi-Fi to get more stable and faster internet connection speed when there are ISP’s hotspots nearby. This behavior can also release the 3G/4G/LTE bandwidth to the other users, so the channel will be less congested, the users, who are too far from ISP’s hotspots to connect to it, can also get the wider bandwidth to increase the connection speed. Therefore, ISP provides such service can benefit all the users.

DrayTek also brings out the model and feature corresponding to such scenario. Most of the Vigor Routers support to provide the 3G/4G/LTE internet connection by plugging the USB dongle. In addition, there is built-in 3G/4G/LTE module on Vigor2925Ln and Vigor2860Ln models, just insert the SIM card to the card holder of the built-in module, we provide an easy-install, more reliable and compatible 3G/4G/LTE connection. We also import the Universal Repeater technology to the WAN2 of Vigor2925 and Vigor2860 wireless models. Users can set WAN2 to connect to Wi-Fi then become the wireless WAN. Therefore, on Vigor2925 and Vigor2860 wireless models, user can set up the router with 3G/4G/LTE and Wi-Fi as dual WANs.

The Wireless WAN can also be a backup internet source when the primary WAN is down. Imagine that you are an owner of a café, you provide the Wi-Fi for the customer. One day, in the afternoon, there are lots of customers in your café having coffee and dessert; unfortunately, the main internet line suddenly drop, the customers start to feel the internet is down, but you can not get it up. You call your ISP but they can not solve the problem at once. One thing just occurs to you that your mobile phone has the LTE connection, it can be as a Wi-Fi hotspot, but it has the maximum clients connection limit which is not able to satisfy all the customers in the café. In this situation, the Wireless WAN can help you to keep providing the internet connection to your customer. You can set up your Vigor Router to connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot of your mobile phone as an internet source, then the customers can have the internet connection without changing any setting or connect to another Wi-Fi.

Furthermore, most of the 3G/4G/LTE contracts has the limited data quota, so the user would like to set the Wi-Fi as the primary WAN, and set the 3G/4G/LTE WAN as the backup, which will only up when Wi-Fi WAN fails.

Or, the router may be far from the Wi-Fi hotspot so the signal is not strong enough to provide stable transmission, so would like to set the 3G/4G/LTE WAN as primary and Wi-Fi WAN as backup.

Some of the users would like to use the 3G/4G/LTE as their primary WAN, take Wi-Fi WAN as an auxiliary WAN, actives when the Wi-Fi down or in the rush hours.

No matter how you want to configure the primary, backup or auxiliary on each WAN, the load balance and active mode features can make sure the router works as your desired.
